CRISIS INTERVENTION

At Charterhouse Clinic, we encourage family members and significant others to be involved in the rehabilitation and recovery process. All substance use and behavioural health issues have a knock-on effect to those closest to the individual with the presenting problem.

We facilitate couples and family sessions in support of the individual but most importantly for the whole family system. We also conduct interventions – a process to help motivate an individual to seek help for their difficulties.

If in need of this service, please speak to a member of the Charterhouse clinical team

DETOXIFICATION

Over the last few years, there has been a sharp increase in the type, consistency and potency of newly found and more established substances (including some ‘legal highs’ and prescribed medications).

As more people have become dependent on substances, at Charterhouse Clinic, we conduct a comprehensive assessment to identify if their is a need for a detoxification prior to commencing the programme.

For residents who require detoxification, our Consultant Psychiatrist will oversee a medically assisted detoxification process. The length of the detox will vary depending on the substance, how much is used, the length of use and the physical withdrawal symptoms demonstrated.

Residents will be expected join in as much of the programme as they are physically able to. Experience has shown that some light physical movement and distractions enable the detox process to be much easier to handle.

PRIMARY TREATMENT

At Charterhouse Clinic, we facilitate an individualised bespoke programme for each of our residents as we believe one size does not fit all!

Using a range of evidence based interventions, we tailor each residents treatment episode to their individual needs by assessing their presenting issue in the context of their occupational, social, economic and cultural world. To this end, the resident in collaboration with their therapist develops the rehabilitation plan with the focus on the individuals preferred outcome.

PRIMARY TREATMENT

Primary residential treatment at Charterhouse is recommended for a minimum of 90 days, so that our clients can make maximum benefit of their Recovery Capital.
